Excellence in Student Achievement

valuesWhat We're About
Excellence in student achievement is a habit at Scott School. Our school operates in a culture of encouragement and caring. We are a school of action, shared knowledge, and optimism. We are clear about what we expect students to learn in each class, grade level, and content area. Our school stretches the hopes, aspirations, and performance of its students and adults. The central focus of our work is learning rather than teaching, therefore we hold ourselves accountable for the results. We are grounded in the belief that all of us can and should improve. Continuous improvement and learning is imbedded in our school culture.

Teachers are leaders and set high standards, use continuous assessment, and monitor student achievement. We know what students are learning because we routinely utilize multiple forms of assessments. Teacher teams are eager for results. They gather and analyze data to identify improvement goals and to monitor progress toward goals. They collaborate and take part in professional discussion daily. We are a “high impact school” and through decisions made by collaboration, teachers provide timely and systematic support and assistance to students.

Research is a valued component of teachers, administrators, and stakeholders. It influences day-to-day decisions regarding teaching and learning. Student achievement and personal success are a collective responsibility of the school, families, and stakeholders.
